Sony PlayStation Vita hit stores in Japan

Expected Sony PlayStation Portable game machine Vita went on sale in Japan on Saturday, as thousands of gamers lined up early in the morning to be among the first to buy it.
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. is predicting strong sales, despite the release may have lost some holiday shoppers. A successful debut would help the company make up the rest of the wrestling business. Sony projects a loss of over $ 1 billion for the fiscal year through March 2012, which would be its fourth straight annual loss.

Ikebukuro shopping district in Tokyo, some 300 gamers in line outside an electronics chain that opened a couple of hours earlier than usual for the event. Many of the buyers had placed orders in advance on the Internet so they could start playing immediately.

The device is a touch-sensitive interface hand movement seen as the successor to the PlayStation Portable. Players can connect via wireless networks and hotspots Wi-Fi, GPS and the use of location tracking technology.

"I'm so happy to see so many people queuing for PS Vita so early in the morning," wrote Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, Hiroshi Kono President in his official blog after touring several stores in Tokyo. "I can say that they had been anxiously awaiting today's release."
For Tokyo-based electronics and entertainment giant, the Vita is the biggest release of products from the PlayStation 3 five years ago. It is also accompanied by two dozen software products - the largest number of launch titles in the history of PlayStation.
La Vita has front and rear cameras, a touch screen on the front, a touch screen on the back and two joysticks, and command. It allows players to play against each other using the PlayStation 3 PlayStation Network Internet, a system that was beaten with a massive computer attack earlier this year.
